Tropics may sound exotic for a vacation, but when you have to deal with high humidity and ever soaring mercury levels, it only feels like a bane. Every summer the retail stores stock up with more expensive “beat the heat” products. And unfortunately not all of us have the kind of money to stock up on all the Loreal, or Clarins. This is the year for change, time to remedy and look absolutely gorgeous this summer.  Ladies you are all aware of your skin types and hair textures, so the only way to take care of your assets is to stick to one product that does it all, without too much of a hassle. I am talking about Aloe Vera. You all have heard about it of course, but how many of you have actually used it? The only thing you need is the plant. That is all. It is time we stop fooling ourselves by buying tones of chemicals for a healthy skin or body, won’t you agree? So instead of buying products which supposedly contain aloe vera extracts just grow it at home and quit wasting money!
Also known as the “plant of immortality”, Aloe Vera is beneficial for all. You can both consume it and apply it.  This succulent plant species has been used in herbal medication since forever, like from the AD. It is said to contain 75 nutrients, 20 minerals, 12 vitamins,18 amino acids and 200 active enzymes. The very reason so many cosmetic and beauty companies advertise using images of this plant is because it really does work like magic. Ask the Egyptians! Although I have my doubts as to how many of them really use the authentic plant.  Listen up, here is a list of benefits you can derive by just staying at home and doing it yourself.

1. Antioxidants

Aloe Vera is rich in antioxidants which help boost your immunity system and help fight free radicals in the body. For those of you who do not know, free radicals speed up the ageing process by causing multiple diseases and ailments. Thereby acting as an anti ageing solution.

2. Anti-allergic
This plant treats certain forms of allergies, like eczema, psoriasis and itchy skin. It also cures blisters and insect bites. For all of you with super sensitive skin, Aloe Vera facial is the cure.

3. Anti – acne
the most disastrous thing that happens in summer due to oily and sweaty skin – acne.  We hate them not only because they are oozy and disgusting but because they also leave scars on our face.  This plant has an anti – inflammatory property which helps reduce redness and prevents the outburst of pimples. All you have to do is remove the outer green portion of one leaf, rinse it with water and apply directly on your skin. Ta daa – no more pimples or scars.

4. Anti – tanning
Aloe Vera gel contains two hormones Axim and Gibberillins which help reduce sun burns at epithelial levels. It also acts like a sunscreen and helps heal your skin. From reducing those horrid stretch marks and keeping your skin hydrated it does it all. Smooth and glowing skin can be achieved just at home. It also improves skin elasticity thereby reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Is it not the best thing ever?

5. Anti – dandruff
Oh yes, there is more! It also has anti – fungal properties, which removes dandruff and reduces the dryness of scalp. It reduces the dry and itchy feeling and refreshes and cools the scalp. The itchiness and dryness is controlled by its anti – pruritic properties.

6. Anti – hair loss
Hair loss can drive us absolutely nuts! And this plant has been used to treat hair fall problems from the Egyptian period! That is so cool. Proteolitic enzymes found in Aloe Vera help remove dead skin cells on the scalp. Aloe Vera’s keratolic action breaks down the sebum and dead scalp cells and alkalizing properties balances the pH level of the scalp and hair which enhances hair growth and retains moisture in the scalp.

7. Anti – baldness
This is a different point altogether. Guys, this one is for your cabbage patch! This kind of baldness occurs on a particular part on the head and gradually leads to complete hair loss. Aloe Vera helps rejuvenate the hair follicles and improves the condition of your scalp. All you have to do is apply the gel every day to your scalp and rinse it off with water after an hour of keeping it.

Now that you all are fully aware of the wonderful benefits, I would just like to remind you that the gel inside the leaf of the plant is the product you can apply directly to your skin, scalp and body. Just do not forget to wash it thoroughly, otherwise it might itch a little. Is it not the best thing ever? Plus it is not expensive and with everyday use you can tell the difference. Also apart from the benefits I have stated, try drinking Aloe Vera juice, it helps cleanse the digestive system. Time to beat the heat people! Aloe Vera is all you need.
