In today’s world, especially students and working people tend to use shampoo for washing their hair.Even though most of them know the harmful effects of using shampoo, they still prefer it as it a quick way to wash their tresses.I am sure that even you are one among those who damage your pretty tresses with those harmful chemicals. No wonder, people in the old times had gorgeous hair.Their secret? They cared for their locks in the natural way.Ask people with beautiful and thick hair the secret behind it.They will tell that they care for their hair the natural way.
People did manage to survive with good hair without the use of shampoo right? No wonder they had wonderful hair. They did not let modern beauty products mess with their beauty .They were dependent on mother nature. They always trusted her to give them good looks.Even from treating injuries to day to day activities like washing clothes, utensils etc, they always made good use of natural products. So why is it that we are so much dependent on modern products to keep us going?Well these are the reasons according to my point of view.
The first and foremost reason is that natural products require a little more time for implementation than the modern products. And living in the world where time is money,I am hardly surprised when people say that they don’t have the time.To tell the truth,I fall under this category as well. The second reason is due to laziness.Even though there ae a few people out there who manage time efficiently, they just feel lazy to take the pain to get their beauty in a time consuming way. They wanna sit on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and watch a movie instead. I am sure you all agree with me on this.

Now let me give you some facts related to the world of entertainment.Ya,it is related to the topic I am discussing about right now. There are many Hollywood stars and singers like Robert Pattinson and Adele who do not use shampoo. They are all part of the ‘No Poo’ movement.Even prince Harry is a part of this movement.People in this movement believe that the reason for early onset of hair thinning and baldness is due to the overuse of shampoo. But yeah, there is another thing. This movement not only saves people’s tresses but also the environment. Not able to understand?Well shampoo actually harms the environment due to the presence of harmful chemicals in them.Read on to find out more.
Lets first see the harmful effects of shampoo on our environment.Shampoos have harmful chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate. These chemicals after being washed from our hair go through the drains from where they are let out into the sea which thereby affect the marine animals. When this water is let into the rivers,it is consumed by cattle which in turn leads to digestive orders which affects them to a large extent. All this pollutes the water which leads to water pollution.I am sure you are all thinking that using just shampoo would cause this much damages to the environment. Then just imagine the damage it would do to your hair.
Now get ready to know the damage it does to your hair.It strips the hair of its natural oils making your hair look frizzy and dry.SLF which is a foaming agent causes irritation to the scalp.Shampooing often destroys the natural acid-alkaline balance of the hair which causes dandruff.Wow!!!I am sure that’s your reaction after knowing the harmful effects of shampoo.Switch to natural products. They are not only chemical free but are easily absorbed by the body thereby giving the good results faster.
Now here are some natural ways to clean your hair as suggested by one of India’s leading beautician,Shahnaz Hussain.
1. Soak a cup of moong dal overnight.Grind it in an electric blender with some water to make a smooth paste.Apply it on your scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. Then wash it off with plain water.
2. Add a handful of fresh or dried marigold flowers to 3 cups of hot water.Allow it to stand for an hour.Strain and let it cool.Use this to rinse your hair.It is a good cleanser for people who have oily hair and dandruff.
3. Take a handful of dry reetha, shikakai and amla.Add to one litre of water and soak it overnight.Stew the blend on a low fire till the water reduced to half.Allow it to cool and then strain through a clean cloth.Use this to wash your hair. You can store the remaining in the fridge.
4. Add 4 teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee,2 raw eggs and some strained tea water to henna powder.Stir the mixture into a thick paste.Apply it on your hair and wash off after an hour.If you don’t want to use eggs, increase the amount of tea water in the mix.
5. Take used tea leaves and boil them in 5 to 6 cups of water.Strain and cool the liquid.Add the juice of 1 lemon and use this to wash your hair.
I am sure that you are also amazed about the magic the natural products can do.You just have to be ready to spend some time instead of later regretting about letting your hair down(you get it right?).So go on,just kick out the laziness in your bones and get ready to be the next Rapunzel in town.
