We surely don’t need to check the month of the year to check whether the summers are here. The moment we step out from our homes, the harsh hot heat waves that flow towards us is enough proof. We try to make sure that we are covered from head to toe in some kind of protection to save ourselves from the wicked sun,but are we always  careful? There are times when we forget the most basic precautions which can lead to some very serious consequences.Think again as to what you miss and read on to know further.

It would surely surprise you that we often forget to care for one of the most important part of our body.

Our eyes are the windows to our soul.It is the most beautiful yet a very sensitive part of us.

We always love to flaunt them.We express so many emotions through our eyes without saying a word. It  affects developmental learning, communicating, working, health and quality of life.It is a biological click button which clicks memories which stays with us forever.

Since it is such a blessed feeling to see,we ought to take care of them too.

I guess quite a lot of people wear glasses or contact lenses. Some buy totally in frames while others prefer to let their eyes do the talking.

Nevertheless, summers are here with the sun putting up its worst behavior possible making us see our lives through the slits.

We make sure that we take care of ourselves when we go out.We would apply the best shampoos, conditioners, serums, sun block lotions to protect our hair and skin from the sun.But we do forget to care for one thing. Our eyes.

There are a few points that I would like to share in order to protect our eyes in the summer.

For some tips,no point for guessing since we all know about  it but are too lazy to follow.

1.Wear goggles while swimming.Surely this is a no brainer but some people do forget this.It better not be you! Your lenses can pick up bacteria from the pool irrespective of the amount of chlorine in water. The chlorine would also prove to be an irritant for your eyes.

2. Wear sunglasses. They can protect your eyes from the direct glare of the sun and also from the harsh blowing winds. It would also protects your eyes from dust, irritants. You wouldn’t want to explain people as to why you are teary eyed for no reason. When it comes to defending your eyes from the UV rays, try going for wide frames. The bigger, the better.Do not get fooled by cloudy days as UV can still reach your eyes and do harm.

3.Consult your doctor and get UV protected or polarized lenses. They reduce the glare of the sun from reflective surfaces and they also act as a blessing for water based activities and driving.

4. Always wear water-proof or sweat-proof sunscreen on your face. Whether you’re working out, swimming, or spending time outside during the summer, you want to make sure that the sunscreen you’re using on your face won’t drip into your eyes and bother your contacts. Keep in mind though it’s also good to wear water-proof or sweat-proof sunscreen on the rest of your body so that if you touch or rub your face it won’t run into your eyes either. Whenever you dry off your face after getting it wet or sweating, make sure you use a clean dry towel and pat, not wipe, your face to remove excess water in order to prevent sunscreen from being rubbed into your eyes. Also make sure that you don’t apply sunblock too close to your eyes as it can enter the eyes and cause serious irritation.

5. Keep your face and eyes out of directly blowing air.A wide rimmed hat or a cap can help you to avoid the direct glare of the sun. This goes for all the ways we keep cool during the summer. From air conditioning to fans to a cool breeze on a hot day, blowing air can cause your contacts to dry out and also propel any harmful or irritating particles in the air. When in the car make sure that the vents are pointed away from your face.

6.Change the solution of the lenses frequently and store it in a cool, dry place.

7.It is important to stay hydrated during summers.Drink atleast a minimum of two litres of water every day to avoid dehydration of eyes and skin.

8.Prevention is better than cure.Try avoiding the midday sun as the strength of the sun and the exposure to UV rays are at its peak.

In the end don’t forget to pamper your eyes at home-The spa style!

Wet tea-bag compresses are one of the most effective ways to refresh tired, itchy, puffy, or watery eyes.

Grated raw potato wrapped in gauze is a time-tested remedy for tired eyes and sandy eyelids or the most common remedy we have known since ages are cucumbers. They tend to rejuvenate the tired and weather stricken eyes.

So this season flaunt your beautiful eyes!
