That refreshing drink made by those godly hands of our mothers when we come home after winning the war with the sun for the whole day.Its all worth it,isn’t it?That drink feels like you have just risen from your own ashes,like a phoenix.Feeling a new life and more energy in you more than ever.So if we got a chance,why can’t we make that refreshing drink a healthy one too?

Since we all are in such a hurry these days,these juices are the perfect fast food for today’s eat and run lifestyle.But what does a fruit juice actually do?Let me enlighten you.Its a source of tremendous energy trapped in a glass.

Fruits and vegetables provide nutrients essential for growth and renewal.We lose thousands of cells everyday due to wear and tear or an injury.They help to produce more of them and faster.
Fruits and vegetables contain generous amounts of vitamins. Vitamins regulate metabolism and help in the conversion of the fats and carbohydrates into energy.So not fat build up,hence no fat gain!(Isn’t that a blessing which also tastes sweet?)

Fruits and vegetables contain minerals that are necessary for the nerve and muscle function and are the building material for some body tissue.(We so need our brains to work efficiently these days.)

Fruits and vegetables have a protective effect
Fruits and vegetables can protect the body from such major diseases as cancer and heart disease. Some are high in substances called anti-oxidants, such as beta carotene, Vitamins C and E and selenium, which are nutrients that protect cell membranes from the damage of free radicals. Some are rich in other anti-cancer compounds, such as indoles.They are the natural antibodies and antibiotics provided by mother earth.

Fruits and vegetables have  a medicinal effect
Fruits and vegetables can be your best non-prescription drugs.

Fresh juices are a perfect food supplement and they are so much better than popping pills.Bitter tasting pills.

I guess these reasons are enough to ditch flavoured and extremely sweet drinks.They are always good to taste but never good for the body.Its like piling junk in your body thinking that it would do you good.And I am not even suggesting to go for bitter health drinks,they are absolutely delicious and available in the market in the form of smoothies too,chilled right?So do yourself a favour,next time go for a drink whose limitations are not just to make you feel refreshed for a while but which is actually beneficial even in the long run.They don’t even cost a fortune,now do they?

But then soft drinks are cheap too,aren’t they?

While soft drinks such as pepsi,coca cola cause oxidative stress,damage to the skeletal system and also insulin resistant in the long run.This cannot be said for fruit juices.Fruit juices are actually known for their ability to offset the oxidative stress and inflammation caused by high-fat and high-sugar meals.(Told you already,they can be of great help when you are trying to maintain your weight.)

Readymade syrups and flavoured juices would just make us feel rejuvenated but would not replenish the nutrients lost.So sit up and take notice of some lip smacking  yummy juices that can surely make your day.

Pineapples:Thanks to the presence of an enzyme bromelain,this tropical fruit helps with protein digestion.It is also a good source of vitamin C,Vitamin B6 and potassium. And the most important reason,Its yummy!

 

 Cranberries:  cranberries contain a compound called proanthocyanidins, which can help prevent UTIs by getting bacteria out of your urinary tract.They are a rich source of vitamin C,antioxidants,antibacterial properties and heart-healthy flavonoids.

 

Blueberries:Be it blueberries,raspberries or strawberries,they are all healthy choices of juices.They are known to have antioxidants and are anti-diarrheal agents.

 

Lemon: Nutritionists say that lemons are an alkalizing fruit that will help to counteract the effects of acidity in the body. They also contain vitamin C.

 

Beets: Beets or beetroot as we call it are sweeter than you might expect them to be, making them a delicious choice for juices and smoothies. They’re also a good source of antioxidants, including lutein and zeaxanthin. Include the beet leaves when you’re blending the veggie up: they’ve got iron, calcium, and beta-carotene.They are extremely good for the eyes.

 

Apple:An apple a day keeps the doctor away.Well its juice would also do the same!It contains polyphenols(they are antioxidants that are thought to fight cancer),potassium,iron and even vitamin C.Make sure you use the skin of the apples because the most good stuff lies in them.

 

Grapes-They contain vitamin C,potassium and resveratrol(it is a compound in red grapes that is said to fight cancer)

 

Orange-The most commonly available juice in the market which is also a personal favourite of mine.It contains vitamin C,potassium and folate.According to a study,fortified orange juice comes with added calcium,vitamin D and even heart health omega3.

 

Pomegranate-It contains potassium,vitamin C,antioxidants and ellagic acid.Pomegranate juice when blended with other fruit juices such as orange or sweet lime make it a power packed drink.

 

Sweetlime-It is helpful in curing scurvy.It helps improve digestion and cures constipations.It improves the immune system and is also beneficial for the people suffering from diabetes.

These are some great juices which would help you to maintain a healthy weight without losing on the vitamins and minerals.

 

So next time when you reach home,ask for a glass of juice and notice its effects immediately.(You would be ready to face the sun soon again!)
