There is a very popular saying – beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Although this statement is very valid but that does not mean that we stop trying to look good. We live in the era where beatifying ones face and body is more important than beautifying the inner self. When it comes to look your best, the most important aspect that demands your attention is the skin. Be it a girl or a boy, having a perfect complexion is of utmost importance. As we grow, we face a lot of challenges which actually make it very difficult to maintain that baby soft and clear skin. The problem starts in the adolescent years, where the body undergoes an immense transformation. In the adolescent here that is in the teenage years the body sees a rapid hormonal change which is responsible for the onset of puberty. Due to these hormonal changes the body develops the peculiar traits for example boys develop a hoarse voice, facial hair while girls achieve a more womanly structure. When on one hand these hormonal fluctuations bring all the necessary change in the body they also introduce the early youth to some pretty grave problems, well grave for those early teenager at least.

The most common problem for the youth is acne. The skin secretes a natural oily substance called sebum from the sebaceous glands. The face has the highest population of sebaceous gland and therefore, after puberty when the sebaceous gland get active, they most of the times create a frustrating problem.

When the oil secretion increases, the pores on the skin get blocked. This blockade gives rise to what we called acne (white heads, black heads). In most of the cases, the acne or the pimples go naturally by the time a person reaches the early twenties. Acne is also treated with several medication and proper diet as well. But there is something more serious than acne – enlarged pores.

Most people have the habit of picking on the acne and pimple. This often leads to scar and enlarging of the skin pores. There are some kinds of acne which stay on the skin for a long time and as they go they cause deep pores to appear on the skin. There are different kinds of skin pores depending upon their depth and the deeper the pore, the difficult it is to handle and cover up. Also aging plays a very important in maintaining the texture of the skin. With aging, especially in women, skin starts losing its elasticity and you start seeing wrinkles and enlarged pores on the skin.

There are many surgical procedures which help you tighten the skin and get rid of the enlarged pores but this is not always feasible. It might surprise you to know that there are plenty of ways which are simple and cost effective. There many products available over the counter which are actually effective in clearing the excess oil from your skin and preventing the pores from enlarging. Also there are many ways which help to tighten the skin and thus diminish the already enlarged pores.  The following are some ways which help to get rid of skin pores: –

  • Egg white:

Egg white is a perfect food for the skin. The egg white not only tightens the skin but also tone the skin. It helps in removing the excess oil from the pores. Separate white from an egg and simply apply it on the skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with plain water.

  • Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti):

This is one of the most common methods adopted by women to overcome skin problems. Multani mitti forms the base for many of the face packs. The simplest way is to make a paste with rose water and add a few drops of lemon. Apply this paste on the skin and leave until dry. Wash off with plain water. This will eventually tighten up the skin and reduce the appearance of the pores.

  • Honey: -

Honey is one of the most ideal ingredients for a natural skin therapy. Honey acts as humectants. It keeps the skin moist and thus improves the skin texture and elasticity. It also controls the oil secretion from the pores and thus maintains the skin natural oil balance. Simply apply oil on the skin and leave it on for a few minutes. You can also mix honey in fuller’s earth and make a paste and apply that on the skin.

  • Salicylic Acid: -

Salicylic is a very powerful exfoliating agent. It helps in removing the dead skin cells and the clogged impurities from the skin pores. Thus it helps to improve the texture and appearance. It also controls excess oil secretion. Salicylic is an ingredient in many scrubs and face washes that are available over the counter. You can go for any one of them.

  • Oat meal: -

Oat meal is very commonly available in the super markets. This forms one of the most preferred ingredients for home based therapies. Make a paste using oat meal and egg white or lemon, honey etc and apply this on the face for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash the face with plain water. This will tighten the skin and clean the pores of the excess oil and dead cells.

These are very basic things that one can do and attain the complexion and texture that you have always envied. The idea is not to let dead skin and oil accumulate on the skin. So regularly scrub your skin with scrubbers readily available in the markets at least twice a week. Also you can use ice to tone your skin and tighten skin on a daily basis.

Try and adopt these simple techniques and see the difference yourself.

There is nothing better than being able to express oneself and writing gives me that power.
