Have you ever noticed seeds been kept in bottles and often chewed raw as if they are a bunch of nuts?Dried seeds sold by vendors and many nutritionists and dieticians suggesting them?

Well I came across an article by one of the best known nutritionists about the advantages of seeds and it got me thinking.They are cheap,easily available,easy to store,does not require preservatives to be stored for a long period of time,healthy with about nil percentage of fat.They are easy to carry in a bag or a small pouch and can be eaten anytime as snacks.They have so many minerals and nutrients without any side effects.

I mean we have a desired healthy snack right here!A snack for which no one would prevent you from eating.So here we are with the most healthiest seeds that the mother earth could gift us and not accepting such a gift would be a big mistake.Huge.

1) CHIA SEEDS

I know the names are a bit funny but boy the things it helps us with is surely going to leave you flabbergasted. They are loaded with many minerals and vitamins and are an excellent source of fibres,proteins and antioxidants. Consuming these seeds helps in the reduction of  joint pains and protects us against diseases such as diabetes and heart ailments.They even help in maintaining weight and the right amount of energy in our body. Researchers have concluded that consumption of chia seeds leads to improved brain function,curing of depression,rheumatoid arthritis  and heart health.(Seems like we will have to say goodbye to the family doctor!)

2) HEMP SEEDS

Okay.Some of the most amazing facts about this thing you just have to know!It contains all the 20 amino acids(yup,you read right) even the ones which our body cannot produce. Eating these seeds will help people suffering from immune deficiency diseases. (Now that’s big)
It is the Nature’s highest botanical source of essential fatty acid.It is a good source of protein for vegetarians.
These seeds provide benefits such as  protecting your immunity, bloodstream, tissues, cells, skin, organs and mitochondria(a cell’s power house)
Now,need I say more to convince you all?
3) POMEGRANATE SEEDS

If you happen to love,I mean just absolutely love pomegranates,reading the details below will make you fall in love with them all over again.Pomegranates are a rich source of antioxidants which can prevent premature aging.(Who needs an age miracle cream?)Since it is rich in iron,it would increase the levels of haemoglobin in our blood making more oxygen reach our cells. The antioxidants  fight free radicals and also prevents unnecessary blood clots.

Pomegranates especially contain a form of antioxidant which helps to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. )In fact, pomegranate juice contains energy-boosting components. The pomegranate is high in vitamin C and potassium, low in calories  and a good source of fibre.They even prevent the hardening of the artery walls with excess fat, leaving your arteries fat free and in a good condition saving you from many heart ailments.
4) FLAX SEEDS

Researchers at the University of  Copenhagen report that flax fibres suppresses appetite and helps support weight loss.Flax has shown to block tumour growth in animals and also may help reduce the risk of cancer in humans.These plant compounds that have antioxidants  and anti-inflammatory properties.They help stabilize hormonal levels and reduce the risk of developing breast and prostate cancer which are on a rise these days.They can lower blood cholesterol levels,helping reduce the risk of a heart attack or a stroke.

5)PUMPKIN SEEDS

They are the only seeds that are basic in nature and are a rich source of protein.Try switching to pumpkin seeds next time instead of your vitamin B pills because it contains vitamin B like riboflavin,niacin,vitamin B6 and folates.For the people who are always  ”udaas”,it has a chemical component which is the secret ingredient to boost your mood.They even prevent formation of kidney stones!

6)APRICOT SEEDS

They contain vitamin B17 which is rarely found in food products.It attacks cancer cells and thus can prevent the cancer cells from breaking out in our bodies.One reason is enough to eat this one.

7)SESAME SEEDS

They are a good source of manganese, copper, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin B1,zinc and dietary fibre.(Phew!Try saying that in a single breath!)Added to these,they even have sesamin and sesamolin which have been found to lower the cholesterol effects  and prevent high blood pressure in humans.

They are often used for improving digestion and also as an antiseptic.They are rich in iron and help boost the power of the liver and the immune sysytem.They even help to relieve the symptoms of common cold and sore throat.It is found out to be good for the body’s metabolism. Black cumins are said to cure diseases such as asthma and arthritis.

9)GRAPE SEEDS

They have an epic concentration of vitamin E,flavonoids,linoleic acid and polyphenols.They help in reducing heart problems such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.According to a study, grape seeds kills carcinoma cells,while leaving healthy cells unharmed.
