With summer blasting us with excessive heat there is one thing that scares us the most. Pimples, they are visible in spite of using all the foundation, not to mention they leave behind terrible scars and marks all over our face. And it does not stop after our teenage which is even more ridiculous as the hormonal changes ceases to occur later. The high temperature of summer increases the level of oil secretion from our skin thereby clogging our pores and causing pimples.  Redness is another aspect of pimples that stands out clearly. Therefore, the only thing that can be done to eradicate this problem is to understand the cause. Pimples just happen to pop up anywhere on our body especially before a big occasion where we were planning to look drop dead gorgeous. It can be called karma with the best timing ever!

Contrary to a lot of speculation pimples have become a lifestyle problem. It is not only because of oily skin or clogged pores. Stress is a major cause of pimples; therefore it is called a lifestyle problem. I am going to point out some of the causes and remedies for pimples for you all to understand the reason why you are getting pimples and can therefore take necessary and relevant steps to prevent them.

The causes of pimples –

1.Excessive sebum secretion
2.Bacterial infection caused due to poor hygiene
3.Clogged pores due to dust, oil, dirt and pollution
4.Clogged of pores due to cosmetics
5.Accumulation of dead cells
6.Unhealthy dietary habits
7.Consumption of excessive junk food
8.Not drinking enough water
9.Hereditary problem

Now, that you all know the reasons, you can easily point out the cause for your skin acne and treat it accordingly. Now I will give you a few tips on how to control your acne problems.

STEP 1:
Wash your face at least thrice a day with a mild cleanser that suits your skin type. Try to use a pH balanced cleanser. Do not rub your face hard, but be gentle and just dab the water off with a soft towel. Washing is an important part of acne treatment, as it rids the face off make up, dust and dirt.Carry the cleanser with you all day long so that you can use it anytime you start sweating. This is essential, because our country has high pollution levels which also clog our pores along with sweat. Therefore try to keep your face clean at all times. Touch your face as little as possible.

STEP 2:
No matter what anyone says or how bad it looks, do not squeeze the pimples unless you want the marks to be permanent. Our hands carry bacteria which enhances the blemishes, so keep from doing that.

STEP 3:
Steam your face about two times in a week. Steaming helps by opening your pores after which if you wash your face with cold water, all the dirt and dust trapped in your pores would be cleaned. Clogged pores also occur due to cosmetic products therefore try to use Non – Comedogenic makeup. The benefit of this kind of makeup is that they do not clog pores and thus chances of acne are reduced. Make sure you use clean towels every time you wipe your face. Otherwise the entire point of cleaning of dust from your face becomes moot.

STEP 4:
Your diet should be high in fiber content including whole grains and fresh vegetables, to keep your body healthy. Stay away from all sorts of oily food, fried food, junk food and caffeine. I know that is really a challenging task but it cannot be helped.  Also try taking zinc supplements and determine which specific foods irritate your skin and remove them from your diet. Hydrate yourself every 2 minutes if possible. Water is essential so carry a bottle with you at all times.

STEP 5:
The most important is sleep and exercise. In our hectic lives we cannot afford to spend time relaxing but it is a must for our health. This is one reason why pimples or acne have become a lifestyle disease; it is because of excessive stress. Therefore enough rest and if possible some amount of meditation is also required for a healthy body and mind. Physical exercise is equally important. Daily workouts keep hormone level in check and releases toxins through sweat.

So now that you are aware of your skin type, have a general idea as to what the cause of pimples might be and also the cure for that particular type of pimples, start working on it. The only difficult remedy is stress control and limited exposure to the sun. The 21st century is full of extremely busy people, so in order to work on these two problems you need to meditate for reducing stress and use umbrellas, high SPF sunscreens and aviators to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays. Controlling a healthy diet and hydrating is also another major part of acne treatment. But if even after following these methods if you still have acne issues, then do consult a dermatologist. So start living healthy and vanquish the acne.
